Hey man, your balls smell like balls!

I.e., they stink.

Probably even worse than you realize.

The problem is that your cock and balls spend most of their day mashed in the crotch of your pants like a mangled meat pie. With one ball going this way and the other ball going that way, all while your cock tries to figure out where it belongs in the middle of it all. Trust me it’s not a pretty sight.

Aside from being extremely uncomfortable – all that congestion, heat, friction and lack of air circulation creates a hot, humid, sweaty environment in which odor causing bacteria is able feast, thrive, and multiply. Kind of like a bacteria buffet/orgy centrally located on your junk. Shit’s not cool man.

So what’s a guy to do?

Since walking around in public with our junk out is generally frowned upon (supposedly they arrest people for that sort of thing), us men have to seek alternative methods for staying cool, dry, and preventing ball odor and sweat from taking over.

6 Ways to Prevent Smelly, Sweaty Balls

  1. Wash your junk
  2. Use a powder
  3. Use a ball deodorant
  4. Use ball wipes
  5. Use ball lotion
  6. Shave that shit

Stopping ball sweat and odor in its tracks isn’t all that complicated, if you know where to start that is. Below are 6 effective methods of eliminating sweaty, stinky balls that you can easily implement into your daily hygiene routine. Enjoy.

Wash Your Junk

So this first one seems like a no brainer, but you’d be surprised how many guys do an ineffective job of it. That’s because casually washing your balls isn’t necessarily going to eliminate and prevent odor.

You need to thoroughly wash your balls if you hope to have a chance. If you shower every morning and still struggle with testicle odor throughout the day, there is a good chance you’re half assing it in the shower and your junk was never fully clean to begin with.

The main cause of ball odor is bacteria and an accumulation of dead skin cells. While soap and water will help wash away some of the problem, you really need to use some scrubbing power if you intend to start your day off with a “clean slate.”

I personally recommend using a washcloth or loofah. The textured surface found on a washcloth or loofah will help slough away dead skin and odor causing bacteria, helping to keep your balls smelling fresher, longer.

I also recommend using a good soap or body wash that’s designed to deodorize and eliminate odor causing bacteria. You can learn more about great soaps for your balls by checking out my list of best soaps and washes for men’s balls.

Use a Powder

Another great method for keeping ball sweat and odor in check is to use a high quality ball/body powder.

Ball powder is specifically designed to deodorize, eliminate sweat and moisture, reduce friction and leave balls with a fresh, clean scent. Lots of ball powders also contain cooling ingredients that provide a refreshing and tingly sensation when applied to the skin.

The process for applying ball powder is pretty simple. You pour the desired amount of powder into the palm of your hand and manually transfer it over by grabbing your junk (I’m sure this application method will feel like second nature to you). Alternatively you can sprinkle a little bit of powder down the front of your underwear and let it work it’s way onto your balls naturally, but honestly where’s the fun in that?

Use a Ball Deodorant

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the benefits of using underarm deodorant, but did you know that there are deodorants specifically designed to be used on the balls and crotch region?

Just like underarm deodorant, ball deodorant is designed to prevent sweat and odor while giving nuts a light fresh scent. Ball deodorants come in a variety of delivery methods – with lotions and sprays being the most common.

Using ball deodorant is pretty simple and straightforward. Simply apply ball deodorant to a clean and dry nut sack and allow a few moments to completely dry before putting your underwear on.

Most ball deodorants are formulated to be quick drying, so waiting 30 seconds or so is usually more than adequate. If using a ball deodorant interests you, you can learn more about them by checking out this list of best ball deodorants for men.

Use Ball/Body Wipes

Once you try a ball/body wipe, you’ll never want to leave home without one. These handy little wipes are perfect for men on the go simply because you can bring them pretty much anywhere. Ball wipes are specially designed to wipe away odor, sweat, dirt, grime, and bacteria, while leaving skin feeling fresh and clean.

I personally like to keep a few in my car, gym bag, and sometimes even carry one in my pocket for those emergency situations. The point is, if you’re looking for a remedy to midday ball sweat and odor – you might want to acquaint yourself with ball wipes. You can learn more about the best body and ball wipes here.

Use Ball Lotion

If ball powder is a little too messy for you, ball lotion might be exactly what you’re looking for. This rub on lotion dries to a mess-free powdery finish, and is designed to prevent ball sweat, odor, bacteria, and chaffing from ruining your day. It also leaves balls feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. After all, who doesn’t love a smooth nut sack?

Application of ball lotion is quick and easy. Simply slather a small amount on to clean, dry balls, and allow about 30 seconds for it to dry. The results certainly outweigh the brief alteration in your daily routine. If you’re curious about trying ball lotion, check out my list of best ball lotions for men.

Shave That Shit

This might be where some of you guys draw the line, but you should at least hear me out. Did you know that pubic hair is capable of trapping odor and bacteria? This means that no matter how well you stay on top of your crotch hygiene, you may still be harboring germs and funk in that jungle of pubes you’re sporting down there.

It’s also worth mentioning that hair acts as a natural insulator. So by removing that warm, furry crotch jacket you’re wearing, you’ll significantly lower the temperature down there and help reduce sweat.

If you’re really hesitant about performing a clean shave, the good news is that a full landscaping isn’t always necessary. If you simply perform a once every few weeks trim, you’ll undoubtedly notice a marked improvement in crotch temperature, sweat, and odor.

Questions & Answers

Question:

My balls smell like cheese. What is going on?

Answer:

Whoa, cheese? That’s disgusting! Just kidding. Sort of. Just out of curiosity, what sort of cheese are we talking about here?

Cheddar or parmesan?

But seriously though, cheesy smelling balls is actually a pretty common thing believe it or not. As disgusting as it may sound, cheese smell is a fairly common odor that can occur on multiple parts of the body that aren’t being cleansed properly. Many people report experiencing a cheesy odor on the balls, feet, behind the ears, and even in the folds and crevices of the skin.

The odor stems from bacteria that feed on your body sweat and dead skin cells. As these bacteria feed they produce a byproduct called thioalcohols. These thioalcohol molecules are known to smell extremely bad; often producing an odor that smells like rotting meat, onions, and yes, cheese. What’s for dinner by the way?

So while I’m certainly not here to berate anyone for poor hygiene habits, I will say that anyone experiencing a cheese smell on their balls is likely doing a shitty job of cleansing themselves.

My best advice is to shower on a daily basis and incorporate a wash cloth or loofah into your ball cleansing routine to help slough away sweat and dead skin cells that odor causing bacteria love to feast on. You might also want to consider using a ball specific body wash for men, and start using a ball powder throughout the day to help absorb sweat, odor, and to keep you dry down there.

Question:

I sweat a lot down there, how do I keep my balls dry throughout the day?

Answer:

You repeatedly punch yourself in the balls until you beat them into submission. Then they will do exactly what you tell them to do. Just kidding. Don’t do that. Unless you want to for some reason. To each his own I guess.

Alright enough of the bullshit. I want to start off by saying that sweating is not a bad thing. In fact it’s completely normal and totally healthy. But okay, I get it. No guy wants their ball sack drowning in a pool of sweat as they go about their day.

Not only is it extremely uncomfortable, but I hear that women aren’t exactly turned on by that sort of thing either. Not to mention sweaty balls will eventually lead to odor. So that’s no bueno. It really is losses all around if you ask me.

In my personal opinion there are only a few courses of action that you can take if you’re a chronic ball sweater.

The first course of action is to start wearing more breathable underwear. Underwear that is tight fitting and contains a lot of spandex doesn’t usually allow for much air flow to the groin. My advice is to wear boxers or even consider switching to a pair of breathable underwear designed specifically for men who suffer from sweaty balls and ass. Or you could always go commando. That’s always an option too.

The second coarse of action I suggest taking is to start using a ball deodorant or ball powder on a daily basis. Ideally a ball powder if you’re okay with a little bit of messiness during application.

Ball powders are excellent at absorbing sweat and moisture and they also keep you cool, odor free, and also prevent uncomfortable chafing and friction. Simply apply a ball/body powder onto your clean, dry balls and enjoy hours of dry underwear. The good thing about ball powder is that it can be reapplied as much as you want throughout the day to help keep sweat and odor in check.

The final course of action I recommend taking to stop ball sweat is to carry ball/body wipes around with you every where you go. While ball wipes won’t exactly stop ball sweat from occurring, they will however remove existing sweat and freshen you up down there. Kind of like a shower on the go for your balls.

Question:

How do I make my balls smell and taste good?

Answer:

Wrap your balls in a fruit roll-up.
