If you’re one of the many bearded men who have sensitive skin you know firsthand how difficult it can be to find the right beard balm that won’t cause irritation to your face.
Most beard balms, and beard products in general, are full of scents and fragrances that can be pretty harsh and unforgiving on the skin. What’s even more annoying is that many beard care companies don’t even offer unscented options making life even more difficult for guys with sensitive skin. Not cool.
So if you’re a guy with sensitive skin or maybe you simply prefer unscented beard care products, the following list of best unscented beard balms is for you.
The List
- The Bearded Grenade – RAW Unscented
- Can You Handlebar – Temperance Unscented
- Zeus – Original Unscented
- Bossman – Naked Unscented
Best Unscented Beard Balms for Sensitive Skin Reviewed
The Bearded Grenade – RAW Unscented
If you’re in search of the best unscented beard balm for sensitive skin I highly recommend you check out my personal favorite RAW beard balm from The Bearded Grenade. RAW beard balm is made in the USA from a blend of mango butter, beeswax, meadowfoam seed oil, argan oil, jojoba oil, watermelon seed oil, rosehip oil, pomegranate seed oil, passionfruit seed oil, and vitamin E. No added scent or fragrance.
RAW beard balm provides a light-medium hold and doesn’t leave the beard feeling stiff but still does a great job of styling and controlling annoying flyaways. Included with the beard balm is a mini drawstring bag and a metal pick for scraping the balm from the tin.
Bottom line: RAW is an excellent unscented beard balm that is made from a ton of sensitive skin safe, beard beneficial ingredients. It leaves the beard feeling soft and nourished while still controlling beard shape and style. It’s my favorite for a reason. Two thumbs up.
Can You Handlebar – Temperance
Another tried and true unscented beard balm for sensitive skin is Temperance by Can You Handlebar. This unscented beard balm is made in the USA from a blend of lanolin, castor oil, beeswax, shea butter, and vitamin E. No added scent or fragrance.
Temperance is more on the softer side for a beard balm due to the lanolin content, and therefore emulsifies in the hands very quickly. I would describe the hold as being on the lighter side but it still does a good job of controlling flyways but probably isn’t the best option if you have a very unruly beard.
Bottom line: Temperance by Can You Handlebar is a great light hold unscented beard balm for sensitive skin. It breaks down immediately in the hands and distributes through the beard very quickly and easily.
ZEUS Beard Balm – Original Unscented
I’ve always been a fan of Zeus beard care products and their Original unscented beard balm is no exception. Made in the USA, this all-natural beard balm is packed with beard beneficial ingredients that soften, tame and detangle the beard while providing light hold. Here’s a look at the ingredient list: Sunflower seed oil, beeswax, lanolin, candelilla wax, carnauba wax, soybean oil, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, avocado oil, hemp seed oil, shea butter, and aloe leaf extract. No added scent or fragrance.
Zeus unscented beard balm is what I would describe as a light-medium hold balm that is great for taming stray hairs and light styling. It scoops from the tin easily and emulsifies in the hands quickly. I personally really like the way it feels in beard and since it’s full of beneficial ingredients it does a good job of softening the beard and helps to prevent breakage and split ends.
Bottom line: Zeus unscented beard balm is a solid all around light-medium hold balm that is full of beard beneficial ingredients. It’s definitely worth consideration if you’re in the market for a great unscented beard balm for sensitive skin.
Bossman Beard Balm – Naked Unscented
Bossman Brands is a fast growing beard care company with a pretty big line of unique and original products, including: beard wash, beard conditioner, beard oil and beard butter. One of my favorite Bossman products is their unscented beard balm (Naked). Made with natural ingredients, Bossman beard balm is a great all around balm that works really well at taming the beard without making it feel overly stiff or firm.
Here’s a look at the ingredient list: Mango butter, shea butter, cocoa butter, lanolin, beeswax, sunflower seed oil, soybean oil, and vitamin E.
Bottom line: When it comes to the best unscented beard balms for sensitive skin, you can’t go wrong with Bossman “Naked” beard balm. It’s a great all-around beard balm that is made with premium ingredients and most importantly it won’t agitate or irritate sensitive skin.
